third floor story: "The studio was just a garage. We put all the stuff in there and played it live except the voices and the phased-out guitar double. The subject of that song matched the tone we got out of the vocal microphone. I must have been close to it."

i can't stay: "The song was pretty much an afterthought of that session. Isaac dampened the bass strings for an upright bass sound and Greg added the banjo. When Greg and I did the back-ups we were both trying to sound like Bonnie Owens."
