Let me start off by saying that Listen to My Shapes, the new album from Sensations, is absolutely incredible. It completely took me by surprise. I found myself taken on a musical journey of sorts by the surprisingly thoughtful sound of this group.

The band was founded by lead song writer Greg Loiacono and features Todd Roper on percussion, and Paul Hoaglin on bass. While the band has it’s own original tune, they feel like they have an old soul - one that harkens back to 60’s and early 70’s rock.

Sensations is one of those groups that fans of rock music will love and non-fans will embrace. Their lyrics have a heart that fills many of their songs with pure raw emotion. It gives listeners no choice, they must pause and think. Good lyrical composition is something many mainstream commercial groups neglect, but listening to an indie group like Sensations is really quite refreshing. Now let’s get to the songs.

"Incredible Man” has a really great melody and it's quite catchy. The song also features excellent vocals, setting the tone for the rest of the album. Be prepared to replay this one a lot.

"Slow to Show” is just like the title says, it is one of the slower songs on the CD with a bit of 'country' infusion. I found it a nice twist, and the lyrics thought provoking.

"My Big Fame” can be described in one word - ADDICTIVE! This track reminds me of The Beatles. “I, As a Ghost” is another wonderfully introspective piece, sporting some of the best lyrics on the entire album.

My favorite song on the CD is the title track “Listen to My Shapes.” This song is just perfect, containing everything that makes this band great. The vocals are top notch, the instrumentals are inventive, and the lyrics are so good they can stand on their own. This song hits all the right spots, and is well worth the price of the CD on its own.

Overall the CD is fairly consistent. There are no duds, but some songs are definitely better than others. The cover artwork is gorgeous, and I highly recommend checking out their website to further your "Sensations” experience.
